Here’s a link to an in-depth article regarding Armyworm trapping from University of California Cooperative Extension Farm Advisor Michelle Leinfelder-Miles.
The article outlines monitoring in the Delta, and provides an excellent overview of efforts to combat Armyworm in the Sacramento Valley.
Additionally, here’s a link to the latest trapping information in the Sacramento Valley, including this update from UCCE Rice Farm Advisor Luis Espino:
“All traps are now set up and we are checking them weekly. Numbers are very low in most locations (less than 0.5 moths per day per trap). Two Sacramento Valley traps and the Delta trap have higher numbers, but nothing to be concerned about at this point.
We usually see the numbers start to increase in mid-June and peak in late June/early July. Last year observations indicate that worm numbers peak a week after the moth numbers peak.”
