Sites Reservoir Project Advances Toward Construction

Two major environmental permitting milestones were achieved in July for the Sites Reservoir project:

  • July 16: The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service issued a Biological Opinion assessing impacts on endangered and threatened species.
  • July 7: The California Department of Fish and Wildlife approved a Master Streambed Alteration Agreement allowing changes to local waterways at the construction site.

These approvals represent key federal and state steps that move the project closer to breaking ground.

Sites Project Authority Shortlists Contractors for Pre-Construction Phase

Following a competitive CMAR procurement process, the Sites Project Authority has shortlisted qualified contractors for the nearly $3 billion Sites Reservoir and roads package. The chosen firm will receive a Phase 1 Pre-Construction Services contract to assist in advancing project planning.

The Authority is now requesting detailed proposals, aiming to select a contractor by year-end, which will move the project closer to breaking ground next year.
