How Sign-In Works

Cal Rice News uses a passwordless sign-in system. Here's what to expect:

Go to the sign-in page and enter the email address associated with your account.

Check your email inbox for a message with a 6-digit verification code.

Enter the code on the sign-in page.

You're in.

Try This First

Not receiving the verification code?

This is the most common issue, and it's almost always caused by email filters.

Try these steps:

  • Check your spam or junk folder.

    The verification email may have been filtered automatically. Look for an email from help@calricenews.org or a subject line that says "Your Cal Rice News Verification Code"
  • Search your inbox.

    In Gmail, Outlook, or your email app, search for "verification code" or "Cal Rice News" to find the message in case it was sorted into an unexpected folder.
  • Add the sender to your contacts.

    This tells your email provider to trust future messages. If you find the code email in spam, mark it as "Not Spam" so future codes arrive in your inbox.
  • Wait a minute and try again.

    Occasionally there's a brief delay. If the code still hasn't arrived after two minutes, go back to the sign-in page and request a new one.
  • Try a different email address.

    If you signed up with a work email, your organization's email security may be blocking the message. If you have an alternate email you can try, create a new account with that address.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why don't I have a password?

Cal Rice News uses a code-based sign-in instead of passwords. This keeps your account secure without requiring you to create or remember a password. You'll get a fresh code sent to your email each time you sign in.

I'm getting an error that says my email wasn't found. What do I do?

This means there isn't an account associated with that email address. You'll need to create a free account first — it only takes a few minutes. Create your account here.

The verification code I entered isn't working.

 Codes expire after 10 minutes. If yours has expired, go back to the sign-in page, enter your email again, and a new code will be sent. Make sure you're entering the most recent code — if you requested more than one, use the latest one.

Can I stay signed in so I don't have to do this every time?

 Once you sign in, you'll stay signed in on that device and browser for a period of time. You'll only need to verify again after an extended period or if you clear your browser data.

I signed up but never received a confirmation. Is my account active?

 Yes — account creation is instant. If you signed up successfully, your account is ready to use. Head to the sign-in page and enter your email to get your first verification code.
