USDA Announces Base Acre Increase Opportunity for ARC and PLC Programs

June 11, 2026

California rice growers have a new opportunity to increase base acres on farms enrolled in the Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) and Price Loss Coverage (PLC) programs. Eligible growers and landowners have from June 1 through August 31, 2026 to review and update their base acres.

According to the USDA, to qualify a covered commodity must have been planted on the farm during the 2019–2023 crop years, and the farm’s average planted acres during that period must be greater than its total existing base acres as of September 30, 2024. FSA is notifying eligible landowners by mail.
