Early December Event focuses on Cover Crops

Audubon California is hosting its third Field Day and Farm Tour at River Garden Farms on Thursday, December 5 for all farmers, producers and growers interested in learning about cover crops.

The focus of this field day will be understanding how to choose and implement a cover crop in row crop production, incorporate the cover crop into nitrogen budgets, and non-chemical pest control methods for row crops and rice. 

Seasoned cover crop users Scott Park and  Tom Johnson will be in attendance, as well as University of California and Natural Resources Conservation Service staff, to provide the most current information and answer questions.

Rice Levee, Road Edge, and Ag Corridor Program – Application Period Now Open

California Waterfowl Association (CWA) is now soliciting applications for the Rice Levee, Road Edge, and Ag Corridor Program. This program is funded by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, through the Nesting Bird Habitat Incentive Program, which pays private landowners 80 cents per linear foot for the management of their internal rice levees or road edges for upland nesting bird species (Mallard, Gadwall, and Pheasant).
