Applications are submitted through the Bid4Birds website and the application period closes on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at noon.

The Migratory Bird Conservation Partnership (Audubon California, The Nature Conservancy, and Point Blue Conservation Science), in collaboration with the California Rice Commission and the Delta Conservancy, and with funding from the California Dept. of Fish and Wildlife, is now accepting online bids for the BirdReturns-Late Summer Farmlands Habitat Program. This program offers farmers and landowners in the Sacramento Valley an opportunity to receive financial compensation for providing a few weeks of ponded or shallow flooded habitat for migratory birds.

READ MOREThe USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in California is taking applications for the Migratory Bird Resurgence Initiative (MBRI). California has $500,000 available. Please call or visit your local NRCS office to apply. Due to the current compressed planting season, we have confirmed with NRCS that for most counties you can register your interest in the opportunity with just a phone call by May 24, but then you will still need to sign your application in person by May 31. For producers in Butte County, you need to sign your application in person by May 24.
