Upcoming 5-Year Referendum Vote

Upcoming 5-Year Referendum Vote

In early February, growers and handlers will have a chance to vote in the 5-year California Rice Commission referendum.

Voting will take place between February 5, 2024 – March 6, 2024. CDFA will conduct all of the balloting and tally the votes.

“This is really your chance to have a voice in the continuation of the Commission. We want to make sure every eligible grower and handler gets a chance to vote,” said CRC President & CEO Tim Johnson.

In the event that you do not receive a ballot from CDFA in February, you can contact Ben Kardokus at (916) 749-5473 or ben.kardokus@cdfa.ca.gov

For the referendum to fail, a majority of growers and handlers voting must oppose the continuation of the Commission. In that case, the activities of the Commission would wind down over a 12-month period and assessments would cease.
